Warner Bros. has announced that filming has began on its upcoming sequel to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Justice League unveiling the logo in the process (less than impressive). The next installment builds on the previous and introduces most of the original members of the Justice League like The Flash and Aquaman.

Like you, I had high hopes for the last film, but it ended up being too depressing and too messy of an edit, having earned a 27% overall review on Rotten Tomatoes. Somehow it still ended up grossing $873 million at the worldwide box office, despite word of mouth of how bad it was to audiences. We can only hope that Snyder gets the ingredients right on this film.

Darkseid

The character was created by writer-artist Jack Kirby and first appears in Superman’s Pal Jimmy Olsen #134

Here’s the official film synopsis:

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy.  Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat.  But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

This time, my movie villain prediction would be an appearance by Darkseid (pronounced “Darkside”), one of the most powerful beings in the DC universe. However, some other sites are indicating that the main villain will be Steppenwolf. With Director Zack Snyder you just never know what you’ll end up getting.

Steppenwolf

Steppenwolf is the uncle of Darkseid and leader of the military of Apokolips

Justice League stars Henry Cavill (Clark Kent/Superman), Ben Affleck (Bruce Wayne/Batman), and Gal Gadot (Diana Prince/Wonder Woman), Jason Mamoa (Arthur Curry/Aquaman), Ray Fisher (Victor Stone/Cyborg), and Ezra Miller (Barry Allen/The Flash) with Willem Dafoe in a mystery role and J.K. Simmons (Commissioner Gordon).

The film directed by Zack Snyder is scheduled to be released in theatres on November 17, 2017.
